Southern Virginia in the News

Two news articles in the last four days have focused on happenings at Southern Virginia University.

An article in Saturday's Church News (a publication of the Deseret News in Salt Lake City) tells about the 700 people who received medical, dental and eye care at the recent Remote Area Medical Clinic on campus.

A Mormon Times article today highlights the Buena Vista Virginia Institute of Religion.

Friday Forum

Michael Strong and his wife Magatte Wade spoke in Friday's forum on “Be the Solution: How to Live an Entrepreneurial Life of Doing Good and Having Fun". Strong spoke of the challenges of starting a school. Wade praised the United States as the best place to start a business in the world and told of her upbringing in Senegal. "Don't complain, just do something about it" was her advice to students.

Knight Watch

Southern Virginia students and staff watched the varsity men's basketball team compete in the UCSAA National Championship game Saturday night via webcast. Cheering them on from a distance, fans watched the men's basketball team place second for the national title in their game against Talladega College.
